Welcome to Summit

Potential is there.
Sometimes it needs
a different approach.

When a traditional classroom feels difficult, the right support can help a young person take their first steps back into learning.

Summit Education provides structured tutoring and mentoring in flexible settings. We work with young people who are out of school or finding it difficult to engage, helping build confidence, address academic gaps and prepare for a meaningful next step.

How we work →
Support shaped around the individual

Different needs.
A personal way forward.

A balance of mentoring, learning and practical experiences, guided by the young person’s needs and goals.

01 / BUILDING TRUST

Mentoring & confidence

Calm, consistent 1:1 support to build relationships, communication and self-belief. We use conversation and purposeful activities to develop routines and recognise strengths.

02 / RECONNECTING WITH LEARNING

Tutoring with purpose

Learning adapted to the young person’s starting point, interests and pace. Sessions help address academic gaps and connect literacy, numeracy and problem-solving to everyday life.

03 / LOOKING AHEAD

Independence & next steps

Practical preparation for what comes next. Where appropriate, support can explore travel, budgeting, CVs, interviews, further education, training and work experience.

Learning beyond the classroom

Space to engage.
Reasons to keep going.

Progress can start with showing up, having a conversation or trying something new. We create opportunities for those small steps to become meaningful progress.

We offer sessions in the community and in outdoor, open spaces, as well as tutoring at home. Settings are agreed around each young person’s needs and may include libraries, leisure facilities and other local spaces.

We can also provide support in school and help with transitions, whether that means returning to school, moving to a new setting or preparing for the next stage of education. We work with families and schools to make those steps feel manageable.

Families, schools & professionals

Let’s make the
next step clearer.

A conversation is the starting point. We’ll discuss the young person’s needs and whether Summit is the right fit.

Who is Summit’s support for?

Summit supports children and young people who may benefit from a more personalised approach to learning and development, including those who are out of school or finding it difficult to engage in a traditional classroom.

We have supported children as young as five, through the school years and into early adulthood. Alongside tutoring and mentoring, support can help young people prepare for independent life, explore career pathways and take their next steps towards further education, training or employment.

We are based across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. Support is considered individually, based on each young person’s needs, goals and current availability.

How do I discuss a referral?

Parents, carers, schools and professionals can contact Summit to discuss the young person’s needs, the support being sought and the next steps. Session arrangements and costs are agreed as part of an individual offer.

What does progress look like?

Progress may include attendance, engagement, academic learning, communication, confidence and independence. Agreed goals and regular reviews help shape the next stage of support.

Where can I read your policies?

Our policies and code of conduct set out our procedures and expectations. Please read these alongside any individual support arrangements.
